The Cell Phone Industry
Over the recent past there have been lots of changes in the cell phone industry and the related industries which make their money from the same customers, and this has happened because technology has changed. The range and types of service have grown from just the basic handsets and contracts previously offered on the networks, this is because the companies cant noew sell as many new handsets as they used to to new customers, as most people now have a handset already, some families may have multiple phones. To increase profits the firms add additional services for a price, and can then justify new charges to customers even though they already have a contract and phone. Examples include remote web browsing, which is becoming common, and other video and news services. Another cell service is free reverse cell lookups which are designed to allow people to look into who owns a particular phone by searching on the number. They appear free but only the search is free, to access the results they charge a small fee, and so make lots of money.
