Treatment for gum disease
Gum disease is also known as periodontal disease in dental community. Gum disease is the infection of the tissues that is holding our teeth in place. If gum disease is not treated properly, it can lead to a more serious dental problem such as tooth loss. This dental problem is commonly cause by a plaque that builds up in the gum line because of poor oral hygiene. This plaque has bacteria that produce toxins that irritate our gums. Since our mouth is already a home to hundreds of bacteria, having good oral hygiene is very important to control the bad bacteria. All of us are at risk in developing gum disease especially those who smoke. Gum disease can be prevented in its early stage. Early stage of gum disease usually appears as swollen gums that bleed easily when brushing. If you experience gum bleeding during tooth brushing, have you oral health check right away to prevent it from worsening.
