Lewis Hamilton today denied that he had bought the personalised number plates LEW 1S. He said it was just about the worst number plate he had ever heard of and that he wasn’t stupid enough to spendd 200 hundred grand on one. He also said he would not even spend £100 on one.

Bob Lewis paid £50k for the personalised number plates bearing the registration number LEW 1S a year ago and was quite happy with his purchase until Lewis Hamilton offered him £200k for it. It was originally auctioned by the DVLA in 1990 where it achieved £36000 at the hammer and a total of approx £45000 with vat etc. Bob was reluctant to sell at first but the offer was just too good to miss.
